... lymouth has over 30,000 students, almost 3,000 staff, an annual income of around £110 million and a major role in the Combined Universities in Cornwall. Plymouth has performed very well in all teaching reviews carried out by external bodies since 1996. In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), the University attained a top rating in psychology. Accommodation Students based at the Plymouth Campus are well served by University-managed and private accommodation benefiting from locations close to the University library, learning facilities and Students Union, being a short walk from the city centre shops, the sea front, nightlife and main leisure facilities, six University-managed halls, many modern buildings designed with student needs in mind, over 750 rooms with en-suite facilities, a very competitive and extensive private accommodation market, with most properties located around the main campus, approved private accommodation with excellent quality decor and facilities but comparatively low prices and an inspection, by University staff, of all approved properties to guarantee safety standards. Course length This course is 3 years full time or 4 years with optional placement, and again I would be required to complete a PGCE if at the end of it I still want to become a teacher. I would most likely not take the optional placement if I still wanted to do this as the placement would not really benefit me. Plymouth university ask for 220 pts from two A levels or 280 pts from three A levels, which would mean I would require B B C in my A-levels. Course content This psychology degree looks at areas of psychology from the basic theories of psychology to development to research. This course also gives the option to take a year for placement on a psychological professional/ industrial placement. PGCE costs Students on PGCE courses will have their fees met in full (subject to residency requirements], provided that they apply to their LEA for assessment. The University will pay students a training salary of £6000 for the year. This will be paid in nine monthly instalments. There is no need to make a separate application for this - the University automatically pays the salary. On top of the training salary, PGCE students can also apply for the standard LEA funding package of a Student Loan, supplementary grants, and disabled student's allowance, if applicable.
