The main source of personal statements was the internet. We also run a wide variety of other popular student websites, some of which involved user contributed content. A proportion of this content was Personal Statements. We categorised and edited this content, and made it publicly available online.

Other sources of personal statements included personal contacts (referred from friends or adverts) who in turn referred other personal contacts who were paid a fee if individuals agreed to their statement being published.

No personal statement was taken from actual application forms submitted to the organisation reponsible for the applications for admissions to Univerisites and Colleges in the United Kingdom.
